To create a landmark circulation-boosting promotion for the Sun newspaper building on the success of the original France for a £1 promotion.
GFM created what has become the Sun's most enduring promotion "£9.50 holidays". The promotion offers readers a £9.50 holiday at one of over 200 UK holiday parks. GFM built a centralised booking system to process the 300,000 postal bookings generated by the promotion. The 8 page editorial that supports the promotion in paper is designed and written at GFM and more recently we have developed a website that allows previous partcipants to book online.
The lure of £9.50 holidays is enough to encourage Sun readers to collect tokens in the paper over a number of days and the circulation of the newspaper is boosted each time the promotion runs.
Well in excess of 2 million holidays are generated annually as a result of 9.50 holidays and its derivatives, making GFM the largest booking service for UK holidays. £9.50 is a perfect fit with the Sun's readership and the paper's most enduring and successful promotion. Booking revenues in excess of £25m extend the holiday season for parks.
