To create a successful promotion offering readers of the Sun newspaper the chance to win a dream caravan home worth £40,000.
We contacted 4 of the major UK holiday operators inviting them to take part in this promotion by offering a caravan home as the prize. To support the promotion, we created a 4-page colour supplement for The Sun plus a competition web page to allow entry to the competition online, as well as by post. The newspaper supplement and website featured details of the 93 UK holiday parks from which Sun readers could choose where to site their dream caravan home, should they be the lucky winner.
This was a great opportunity for the Sun to offer a fantastic prize to their readers, and also provided the holiday park operators with additional brand representation in a national newspaper. The holiday park operators also had the benefit of access to a large number of new leads for use in promoting their caravan sales.
The response from readers was fantastic, with over 180,000 entries to the competition. This provided a large volume of sales leads for the participating holiday park operators, and also resulted in an increase in newspaper circulation during the period, as readers were required to collect 4 tokens from the newspaper in order to enter the competition. The lucky winners, Mr. & Mrs. Hyman of Chesterfield, are thrilled with their new dream caravan home.
